Our vision is that ‘Pacific children have the best possible start to life’.
We will work towards this vision by providing support and services to health professionals who work with Pacific families to improve the health and wellbeing of Pacific mothers and infants during pregnancy and the first year of life.
What is TAHA?
‘TAHA’ means ‘one’ in a number of Pacific languages. We have chosen ‘TAHA’ as our name because:
- We believe the first year of life is the most critical.
- We recognise that for many Pacific families “it takes a whole village to raise a child” and we value that collective approach. We acknowledge the wider context of families and the community, and we consider the important role of fathers, other caregivers and the involvement of the wider family in ensuring the wellness and safety of both mother and baby.
- We unite stakeholders, government and non-government services, service providers and the community with the aim of providing our infants with the best possible chance to a healthy start in life.
- We aim to be the first port-of-call for authoritative and up-to-date information regarding Pacific maternal and infant health and wellbeing.
