Advocacy, consultation and engagement
TAHA provides strategic leadership and advocacy services in Pacific maternal and child health.
We aim to ensure that a Pacific voice is represented on issues relating to the health and wellbeing of Pacific infants during pregnancy and first year of life.

- Input was provided at Ministry of Health Workshop on Tobacco Control ‘ABC Training and Core Competencies’ and ‘Smoking Cessation Services for Pregnant Women’ (8 April 2010)
- Feedback was provided to Midwifery Council of New Zealand Statement on Cultural Competence for Midwives (30 March 2010)
- Input was provided at the Ministry of Health Sector Workshop for a Quality and Safety Programme for Maternity Services (26 March 2010)
- Submission made to Select Committee Inquiry into the tobacco industry in Aotearoa and the consequences of tobacco use for Maori (29 Jan 2010)
- Feedback was provided on the National Screening Unit’s Universal Newborn Hearing Screening documents, 24 September 2009
- Submission was made to the Ministry of Health’s Draft Maternity Action Plan, 29 July 2009
- Ongoing feedback was provided for the development of the NZ Children’s Social Health Monitor http://www.nzchildren.co.nz, since June 2009
